Today’s case study task: Using the information and advice provided in your case study materials: Produce 2 interview criteria sheets (one per post) Each sheet to include 10 interview questions Each sheet to include a scoring scheme Produce a list of 9 ways in which the company might be impressed by an interviewee before, during and after the interview

Decide what type of interview to go for: Telephone Personnel Technical One to one Panel Group Chronological Criteria based

The interview questions: You need to produce 10 questions per vacancy What do you want to know from each applicant? What evidence are you looking for? What information is each question designed to elicit from each applicant?

Professional & Enterprise Development – CE Taking a closer look Tell me about yourself Why are you interested in this job? Are you any good with XHTML? Can you describe a situation where you have had to take a leading role in a team? Which parts of your degree do you enjoy the most? If a friend had to choose 3 words to describe you, what would they be? Why should I give you this job?

Professional & Enterprise Development – CE The interview scoring scheme How will you mark the answers given to your questions? Will you score the answers, e.g ? Will you rate the answers, e.g. very poor -excellent?

First impressions, lasting impressions If you were the employer – how could applicants impress you when they arrived during the interview after the interview Produce a list of 9 ways in which applicants could impress you

Making a good impression? What if the candidate is late or doesn’t turn up? What if they can’t find the place? What if they come on the wrong day?

Making a good impression? They look scruffy or unkempt Their clothes are clean but highly unsuitable They have body odour They keep asking where they can go to have a smoke Look tired out Look ill or very unfit

Making a good impression? They don’t know anything about your company or what you do They know little or nothing about the job they have applied for They don’t have any questions to ask you They cannot answer your questions They give monosyllabic answers They waffle on and on but say very little Their mind just goes blank every time you ask them anything

To do this you need to: Organise a way to work as a group Read the case study Read the supporting materials Complete the task
