Scieszka Jon Scieszka was born on September 8th, 1954 in Flint, Michigan. He has has the same birthday as Peter Sellers and the Virgin Mary.

Jon’s Parents His dad was a Elementary School Principal. His mother was a RN who once took Jon's Cub Scout den on a field trip to the prenatal ward.

Jon’s Background He’s got an M.F.A. in Fiction from Columbia University. He spent five years of painting apartments in New York City. His wife, Jeri Hansen, introduced him to Molly Leach and Lane Smith. He spent ten years of teaching from first grade to eighth grade.

How can I use his ideas in class Jon Scieszka has a very different way of looking at things. I think that the best way to introduce a lesson about him is to read a fairy tale. Like “Little Red Ridding Hood,” or “Three Little Pigs.” Then have them pair up and create a new story with the basic them in the original.
