Standard: RI5.6 – Analyze multiple accounts of the same event or topic, noting important similarities and differences

2 Essential Questions: What does the author want the reader to understand about this text? What are some of the most important ideas related to this topic? What is similar and different about how the information is presented in these texts?

4 Vocabulary: Point of view- A particular attitude or way of considering a matter Perspective- A mental view or outlook

5 Teaching: When analyzing two different texts on the same topic, it is helpful to begin by thinking about what we know about each text. How is the information organized? What does the author want the reader to understand about the topic? What is the author’s point of view or perspective on the topic? When we have a clear understanding of this, we can then think about the similarities and differences between two texts.

7 We are going to read two stories today.
First we will read, The Three Little Pigs Next we will read, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs When we finish, we will discuss how each of the stories is alike and different. Be thinking of how the perspective changes from one book to the next.
