LINES WILL MOST LIKELY CHANGE, AND ARE NOT ETCHED IN STONE. BECOME A TEAM…

SELECTION PROCESS LOOKING FOR TOP PLAYERS AT VARSITY LEVEL – TYPICALLY WE WILL DRESS 18 SKATERS AND A GOALIE. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY CUTS. COACHING STAFF SPEAKS REGULARLY WITH PLAYERS ABOUT THERE ROLE ON TEAM. INITIAL TEAM DECISIONS ARE NOT ETCHED IN STONE – CONSTANT COMMUNICATION AND EVALUATION BY COACHING STAFF.

MUST BE AT PRACTICE THE DAY BEFORE A GAME TO PLAY IN A GAME THE NEXT DAY. COACHES DECISION PLAYING TIME AND ROLE ON TEAM DETERMINED DURING PRACTICE TIME AND CONSTANTLY EVALUATED BY STAFF COACHES MEET AND DISCUSS PLAYERS ON A DAILY BASIS. COACHES PLAY THE BEST PLAYERS & TEAMMATES – ACCEPTANCE OF ROLES IS MOST IMPORTANT. YES WE PLAY FAVORITES WITH STUDENT ATHLETES THAT ARE COACHABLE, HUSTLE, TEAM FIRST, TALENTED, COMMITTED. PLAYING TIME IS NOT GIVEN BY SENIORITY BUT EARNED BY EFFORT, ATTITUDE AND TALENT – REGARDLESS OF CLASS.

SON BEING COACHED AT SUPPER TABLE – “DON’T PASS TO HIM” SON IS NOT HAPPY WITH ROLE- BEFORE YOU BLAME THE COACH – THINK OF SON’S TRAINING EFFORTS, THINK OF YOUR BIAS, THINK OF OUR YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, THINK THAT THE COACHES WILL ACTUALLY PLAY THE MOST TALENTED PLAYERS THE MOST AMOUNT OF MINUTES. ICE TIME – DECIDED AT PRACTICES(NOT ATTENDED BY MANY PARENTS) AND GAMES. CAPTAINCY ISSUES – PLAYERS AND COACHES AWARDS AT BANQUET = PLAYERS AND COACHES VOTE. COLLEGE PLACEMENT – “HE DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP MY KID GET INTO SCHOOL – I WILL HELP ANY WAY I CAN; RECCOMENDATION LETTER, ETC…

PROGRAM WE HAVE TURNED THIS FROM A TEAM TO A PROGRAM… DCL.MVC – WESTON, DRACUT, LOWELL, BEDFORD, WAYLAND, HAVERHILL 9 NON LEAGUE GAMES –BROOKLINE, EAST BOSTON, ST. CLEMENTS, TYNGSBORO, WATERTOWN, TRINITY CATHOLIC WILL CONTINUE PARTICIPATING AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL & YOUTH HOCKEY LEVEL TO MAKE NEWTON SOUTH HOCKEY MORE INVOLVED & RECOGNIZED. MORE NUMBERS WILL CAUSE MORE COMPETITION & RESULT IN A STRONGER PROGRAM. WE ARE ABSOLUTELY SEEING THAT NOW. THERE WILL BE SOME ENCOURAGING & POSSIBLY DISCOURAGING GAMES THIS YEAR. LET’S COLLECTIVELY KEEP A POSITIVE OUTLOOK. OUR TEAMS GOAL THIS YEAR IS TO QUALIFY FOR STATE TOURNAMENT (.500 RECORD/10 WINS)
