WHAT IS ACROSPORT ? Acrosport is an acrobatic sport performed with a partner or in groups, which combines:  Human pyramids (always involve at least a two-level structure, the base being generally bigger than the top).  Figures (aesthetic formations made by all the participants. There are no different levels).  Gymnastic and choreographic elements. All this is accompanied by music, which enhances the expression.

ACROSPORT AS A SPORT TTTThe discipline Acrosport is included with the rest of acrobatics sports in the IGF –International Gymnastics Federation-. TTTThe categories in which they compete are: Women’s pairs Men’s pairs Mixed pairs Women’s trios Men’s fours

Acrosport in School TTTThis is a cooperative, creative, fun and non-competitive activity, which is involved in three key elements: BBBBuilding of figures needs strength, flexibility and balance. AAAAcrobatics on the ground or dance steps for some transitions to other figures MMMMusic accompanys the choreographic component and enhances the expression.

Acrosport roles The base  It is a stable, static or dynamic base.  Their main features are strength, stability and balance.  Their partners must trust and have confidence in the base.  Projects the person at the top to their balance position and helps then dismount.

Acrosport roles The Top  This person is thinner and smaller than the base.  Their main features are flexibility, balance and agility.  They must be courageous and must trust their partners.  They are on the top of the pyramid with a balance or strength position.

Acrosport roles The helper  Their job is to help build the pyramid.  They provide security and confidence to partners.

Technical aspects Among the technical issues involved in building human pyramids and structures, grips or hand holds are important.  Hand grips provide security and stability to the pyramids.

Pyramid building rules In the building, we must take into account three phases: 1. The build-up 2. Stabilization 3. Dismantling the structure

First Phase: The Build Up  We must start building from the center to the sides. The last parts are the upper levels.  It is important to have verbal communication between partners.  The top, during the climb, must ascend as attached as possible to the base to avoid unbalance.

Second Phase: Stabilization  The position must always be held. Structures must last at least three seconds.

Third Phase: Dismantling  Should always be in reverse to the building.  It begins with the top, who should descend from the pyramid to the front or to the side, and always with help.

Guidelines to make a choreography 3. H elpers AAAAs important for ascension as for placement and descension SSSStudents who take part will also aid in the figure, as well as decorating the figure or making other figures.

Guidelines to make a choreography 4. Figures  I I I I give a number of basic figures on sheets, which you can use, but creativity is valued. AAAAll the figures, once completed, should be held for at least three seconds.
