Presentation transcript:

STEP 1 Multiply the digits in the ones place. Write the product in the ones place of the answer box. If the product is greater than ten, carry the number from the tens place. 36 x85

STEP 2 Multiply the digit in the ones place of the bottom number with the digit in the tens place of the top number. If you had to carry a number, add that number to your product. Write the product in the tens place below the problem. Carry a number to the hundreds place if the product is greater than ten. 36 x85

STEP 3 Put a zero in the ones place below the first product. 36 x85

STEP 4 Multiply the digits in the tens place of the bottom number with the digit in the ones place of the top number. Write the product in the tens place of the second row of the answer box. If the product is greater than ten, carry the number in the tens place. 36 x85

STEP 5 Multiply the digits in the tens place of each number. If you had to carry a number, add that number to your product. Write the product in the hundreds place of the second row of the answer box. If the product is greater than ten, carry the tens digit to the thousands place. 36 x85

STEP 6 Add the two numbers in the answer box. The sum of the numbers is the answer to the multiplication problem. 36 x85
