My Life Scenario Exploring Careers PERSONAL FINANCE MR. FUSCHETTO

Think about it… Where do you see yourself after high school? Do you plan to have a savings account and investments? What skills are necessary to meet your needs and wants? Will you have a family to support or student loans to pay off? It’s never too early to start thinking about your future. Today we will do just that by taking a look at possible careers that you may wish to pursue.

Where will the money come from? Where do you get money today? ◦Parents or caregivers ◦Part-time jobs ◦Allowances ◦The government ◦Profits from a small business A carefully chosen career will be one of the best ways for you to increase your income in the future Wages received on a regular basis are the primary source of income (money received on a regular basis for work or through investments) for many workers

How do we know what career to choose? You need to consider your own personal traits You need to try to match your ◦abilities - skills, the things you do well ◦aptitudes - your natural talents ◦interests - the things you like and enjoy doing ◦values – the ideals that are important to you and your career choice Your abilities and traits will help you define your work preferences and allow you to work comfortably. If you have a natural inclination toward one field, you will learn more quickly. Attempting to work in an occupation where you have little interest or ability can cause unhappiness and stress

Where do we begin? Identifying one’s interests, abilities, aptitudes, and values is the first step in career planning.
