Multimedia in Our World “We live in a multimedia world, surrounded by images, movement, and sound. So perhaps it is not surprising that part of our human evolution has focused on making our technology reflect the color and clamor of our surroundings. In educational technology, multimedia has been a steadily growing presence for sometime” (Robyler, 2006).

Hypermedia is linked or interactive media. Database Software & Computers Authoring Tools & Interactive Software WWW & Internet

Distance Learning It is the acquisition of knowledge at a distance through the use of various technologies. Student research using the Internet Online classroom materials Web-based lessons Virtual courses & programs

Teaching and Learning with Multimedia & Hypermedia Multimedia & Hypermedia can be used for all learning styles. Visual learners – video, still pictures, simulations Audio learners – lecture, audio software, CD, or tape Kinesthetic learners – presentation software, authoring tools

Reasons to Use Multimedia & Hypermedia Technology influences student academic performance. It develops higher-order thinking skills. It improves student motivation, attitude and interest in learning.

Reasons to Use Multimedia & Hypermedia It can help prepare students for careers of today and the future. Low-performing and at-risk students receive needed support. Students will be technologically literate and proficient.

Advantages of Distance Learning Distance learning promotes the following: the process of discovery and learning cooperating in collaborative work exchanging and sharing with others no matter when, where, or with whom

Advantages of Distance Learning When used in early childhood students can: discover, acquire, and use written language learn a foreign language, science, music, and art use technology to communicate and access information

The Future Now… Technology has been integrated into all aspects and routines of our daily lives. Multimedia and hypermedia tools are intricate in providing students with the ability to prosper with the changing demands of society. To accomplish this goal, it is imperative that we integrate these technologies into our curriculum and instruction today.
