National Plan Government’s “Infrastructure and Capital Investment 2012 – 2016” plan published 10 th November 2011 Covers five year period 2012 to 2016 Overall funding level to NTA over the plan period is: –Over €700 million for Greater Dublin Area public transport infrastructure –c. €80 million for Regional Cities and national Accessibility Programme

During 2011 capital review process, NTA contended strongly that bus and cycling/walking investment needed to be protected –2012 to 2016 plan reflects that prioritisation Luas Cross City is one of the larger investment projects necessary for the city –Resolves the lack of connection of light rail –Strong benefits in business case, grows public transport overall –Complementary to other transport modes –Light rail only can handle the demand numbers projected for the corridors it serves –Supports the Grangegorman education/health campus which will transform Dublin’s north inner city
