Charity Non-Uniform Days During this academic year HMS has held non-uniform days to raise money for various charities. In order to decide which charities to support, HMS Student Council looked through various bids and decided to hold a non-uniform day each term. Each term the money raised would be given to either a local, national or international charity. For the summer term the chosen charity is St Oswald’s Hospice nominated by Hamish Reed-Embleton Year 13 student

Raising money for St Oswald’s Hospice Friday 1 June Non Uniform Day

Why should the school support St Oswald’s? St Oswald’s is a local charity based in Gosforth that provides care for large numbers of adults and children in Newcastle and across the North East with life-limiting conditions. St Oswald’s relies entirely on charitable support to deliver its vital services.

What does St Oswald’s do…….? Adults with life limiting conditions are referred to St Oswald’s for pain and symptom management and end of life care. St Oswald’s care for patients with Cancer, as well as those with end stage neurological, cardiac and respiratory conditions. Within their Children’s Service, they offer specialist short breaks to children and young people with life limiting conditions and their families.

Hamish is currently training to be a ward helper at St Oswald’s. Alongside doctors and nurses, ward helpers offer support to families who access St Oswald’s. Hamish has hosted a number of local events to raise funds for this worthwhile charity. He aims to raise at least £2000 from his various fundraising events.

In addition to raising funds for St Oswald’s, Hamish is self-funding a trip to Peru to undertake a community project eg building/developing a local school/health centre.

Remember…….. Friday 1 Non-uniform day to raise money for St Oswald’s Hospice Please donate £1 Thank you!
