1 Garage Door Security System  Develop a, Internet-based system to detect and control electric garage door openers  Sensors detect whether door is open or closed.  Secure smartphone (Android/iOs) app can detect status and issue open/close commands.  S ponsor: TBD

1 Campus Tour Application  Develop an application for iPad/Android that will allow people to find their way around campus with ease.  Potential audience is new students.  System will locate student on campus map and provide navigation to each destination.  Via web access, will provide latest news & information about various attractions along the path based on current location.  Sponsor: TBD

1 Virtual Drivers’ Training System  Develop a system that will provide drivers’ training using a VR headset (a driving “game”).  Integrate realism by using devices with a “cockpit” including steering wheel, accelerator, brake pedal, turn indicators, etc.  Provide a mechanism to score the student on various driving scenarios.  Sponsor: TBD

1 3D Room Model Maker  Develop a system that uses a 3D camera to detect and map the features of a room.  Identify walls, corners, doors, windows, etc.  Create a 3D image/map of the room.  Connect adjoining rooms to create a tour of a facility/home.  Potentially mounted on a remote-control vehicle.  Sponsor: TBD

1 Physical Rehabilitation System  Develop a physical rehab system using a VR headset  Use a 3D camera (possibly Kinect) to detect and analyze movements of a patient in response to the VR environment.  Provide feedback/coaching to improve the exercise.  Provide evaluation/comments to caregiver via web app on patients’ performance.  Sponsor: CSE Heracleia lab (Dr. Becker?)
