Adjectives

Adjectives – describe nouns – people, places, things and ideas

The midterm was easy. ( Easy describes midterm.) Our teacher is beautiful. (Beautiful describes teacher.) It was a hot summer. ( Hot describes summer.)

a)Adjectives usually go before nouns, not after Adjective + noun e.g. Shenzhen is a busy city. Shenzhen is a city busy. The bright sun is shining in my eye! The sun bright is shining in my eye!

b) Adjectives can go after the verb to be or after linking verbs like become, look, feel, sound, seem, taste Linking verb + adjective e.g. Snow is cold. She looks nice. It feels hot today.

d) We can use some adjectives with It is and to followed by a verb to describe a noun phrase It is + adjective + verb e.g. It is nice to eat ice cream after dinner. It is dangerous to play with pandas. It is important to study for tests and exams!

d) Adjectives do not have plural forms. Do not add –s Adjectives Your friends are tall. Your friends are talls. ‘Kung Fu Panda’ and ‘Mulan’ are my favourite movies. ‘Kung Fu Panda’ and ‘Mulan’ are my favourites movies.
