How do I make change?

If I have $1.00, and I spend 50 cents, how much change do I get back? I have $1.00. I spend 50 cents. I would get 50 cents back = $1.00

If I have $.75, and I spend $.25, how much money do I have left? I have $.75. I have $.50 cents left. I spend $.25.
