Post- Impressionism and the Late Nineteenth Century September 20, 2007 Ms LeRoy

Notes Diverse styles yet all influenced by Impressionism. Bright colour and visible, distinctive brushstrokes. Two trends: Cézanne and Seurat have a strong sense of formal structure, while Gauguin and Van Gogh explore emotional content. Both trends set the stage for early twentieth-century art.

Georges Seurat, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte,

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, At the Moulin Rouge, 1892

Paul Cézanne, Mont Sainte-Victoire,

Paul Gaugin, la Orana Maria, 1892

Vincent Van Gogh, The Starry Night, 1889
