3 © 2013, BRIITE BRIITE Mission Establish personal contacts, bringing together those responsible for research computing activities at biomedical research institutions. Identify and document common problems and interests. Seek opportunities for partnership / consortium activities. Identify common issues that should be brought to attention of home institutions, government and other funding agencies.

4 © 2013, BRIITE BRIITE Goals Interaction among participants at meetings. Establishment of a community among IT professionals who support biomedical research. Sharing of ideas, methods, tools, insights, and lessons learned. Coordination of activities and approaches (when warranted). Ongoing interactions between meetings.

5 © 2013, BRIITE BRIITE Meetings Began as a one-time, ad hoc gathering to exchange ideas. Initially evolved into a regular, twice-yearly meeting. Now has become an annual meeting. Session formats: plenary presentations, self- organizing discussions, tech-exchange meetings. Lots of opportunities for informal interactions. Most important results of BRIITE meetings happen after everyone goes home.
