Is it relevant?

Well…

92 % of children now have an online footprint before they are 2 years old...

Children Age 2-5  69% can use a computer mouse  58% know how to play a computer game  11% can tie their shoelaces  20% know how to swim

U.S. children are in the top percent in ability to use tablets and smartphone apps

Is it beneficial?

Yes! It helps to..  Utilize tools that the students are already interested in.  Create a group learning environment  Get students interested in the material

According to PBS…teachers use technology because…

77% think it increases ability to learn

76% think is reinforces the concept being taught

76% thinks students respond better to a variety of learning styles

For them it really is a big deal. Much more so than I ever though it was going to be. -- Elementary school teacher
