Types of Letters Personal—Business Letter A personal-business letter is a letter that is sent from an individual to a person or business/organization. Business Letter A business letter is sent from a business or organization to another or to an individual

Remember, you are writing a formal letter to your organization. How do we create a FORMAL tone? What is TONE? The overall attitude a writer projects toward the reader and the subject matter. Sentence structure, formality and specificity of vocabulary, and neatness all contribute to a letter's tone.

Purpose – why are you writing this letter? Your purpose is to write a persuasive letter to a company or organization about a social issue.

Major Parts of a Letter 10 Parts Must be in order Must know what each part does

Major Parts of a Letter 1. Letterhead if the letter is from a business. 1. If you do not have a letterhead (which you don’t), leave it blank. You will write your name, address and telephone number at the top of the page or above the inside address (Called the RETURN ADDRESS)

Notes to Remember! 1. The top margin is 2”, side and bottom margins are 1". 2. Typist initials are the initials of the typist and are used when someone other than the writer prepares the letter. Lowercase letters are used, with no space, and with no punctuation, appearing a double space below the signature.
