Development of a BSC Rollout workshop

Some general notes – Pre Workshops Development of a workbook Train the Trainer session – these to be used for identified change agents? What to bring to the workshop – pre reading for participants –Type of article’s –Current KPA’s Briefing Sessions with supervisors

Workbook Need a standardised workbook developed This will hold all the presentations and exercises that will happen during the workshop It will provide a basis for reference into the future Need to have a development team to produce this

Some general notes – The Workshop Vocabulary definitions Use of the video for all levels? Use of SANParks related war stories and examples Generic KPA’s – have these been sourced? –Develop a generic KPA development process

Workshop – Morning Session Overview and contextualisation –Do we bring in the McKinsey process

Introduction Objectives of this workshop –Gain an Understanding of the Balanced Scorecard Theory –Understand its application to SANParks Why has SANParks chosen the BSC What does SANParks hope to achieve –Gain an understanding of its relevance to you –Develop your Key Performance areas and link these to the SANParks BSC

Background – What is Strategy What do you understand the meaning of Strategy to be? How does this strategy affect you in your daily work? What do you understand the BSC to be? How will this affect you in your daily work?

Overview Introduction to Vision, Mission and Values –At the correct point in the presentation introduce the vocabulary Introduction to Strategy The SANParks Value Proposition The SANParks Corporate Structure Introduction to SANParks corporate plan

Workshop – Mid Morning Understanding the concept of the Balanced Scorecard in general The SANParks BSC

Workshop – Afternoon Session Overview of Divisional KPA’s and how these link to the scorecard Development of your own KPA’s

KPA Development The link between your division and SANParks achieving its strategy – your directors KPA’s –Highlight the divisional directors specific KPA’s and go through the links to the scorecard carefully Development of your KPA’s Feedback to group on KPA’s Summary and conclusion

Analysis of KPA’s – Offline by facilitators After the session Briefing to supervisors Feedback by supervisors and change agents – standardised feedback process How do we feedback

Some general notes – post workshop and feedback Post Workshop Analysis –Analysis undertaken by facilitators to check the KPA’s submitted do align to the scorecard –Need to get agreement from supervisors that these KPA’s are suitable Feedback session –Each delegate needs to receive feedback on their KPA development –This needs to be done by their supervisor and facilitators –Need a check sheet and supervisor briefing session with supervisors before embarking on this process
