Pacific Public Service Excellence Award (PPSEA) Working Group

Members: Fiji (Chair) Marshall Islands Palau Papua New Guinea Samoa Vanuatu Secretariat – PICPA / Manase

Objectives:  To study practices across the member countries of the Pacific Public Service Commissioners’ Conference and bring for the consideration of the Conference the findings:  Status of recognising service excellence in the respective countries;  What kind of programmes exist internationally and;  Make suggestions and recommendations on what more could be done in the context of the Conference and respective member Countries

Meetings:  No face to face Meeting, but several get together over teleconference.

Findings:  Three Papers produced with the assistance of Secretariat:  Current “State of Play” in the Member Countries based on analysis of questionnaire feedback  International Public Sector Awards Programmes  Proposal for a Pacific Public Service Awards Programme

Issues for Discussions:  Is there sufficient information, findings and recommendation before you to assist the Conference in its deliberations;  Is the work currently pursued by respective member countries sufficient to recognise and promote excellence in service delivery;  Are we ready for region-wide Awards programme:  logistics  costs  benefits  sustainability  Should the focus be on developing individual capacities with some level of outside support or otherwise;  Way Forward??
