2 The intra-ACP academic mobility scheme promotes cooperation between higher education institutions (HEIs) and supports mobility in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP) regions. The programme aims to increase access to quality education that will encourage and enable ACP students to undertake postgraduate studies, and to promote student retention in the region along with mobility of staff (academic and administrative), while increasing the competitiveness and attractiveness of the institutions themselves. What is the Intra-ACP Mobility Scheme?

3 What is the BULA Project?  BULA – Building University Links for Action: Scholarship scheme funded with the support of the European Commission for you to study Masters, Masters Exchange, PhD & PhD Exchange at selected institutions in the Pacific region.  Both Scholarships also offer Academic and Administrative Staff Scholarships

7 Eligible countries  Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Tokelau Vanuatu (USP member countries), East Timor** and Papua New Guinea Restrictions: Mobility between the campuses of USP is not possible Students cannot apply to an institution in their home country; or one that has awarded them a Degree. At the moment, students cannot apply for academic Programmes to our partner Institution in East Timor (UNTL)

8 BULA: Eligible Universities  The University of the South Pacific (USP)  Papua New Guinea University of Technology (UNITECH)  National University of East Timor (UNTL)** Restrictions:  You cannot apply to an institution in your home country, or to one that awarded your degree.  At present, students cannot apply for an academic programme at UNTL

9 Types of Scholarships  Full Masters (22 months)  Master Mobility (6 months)  Full PhD (36 months)  PhD Mobility (10 months)  Administrative Staff (1 month)  Academic Staff (1 month)

10 Available fields of Study: BULA  Agriculture Sciences  Engineering & Technology  Earth Science  Climate Change  Environmental Studies  Marine Sciences  History  Sociology  Psychology  Social Policy  Governance

11 General Eligibility Criteria Must be a national of one of the eligible Caribbean or Pacific countries Be registered/admitted in an eligible institution (within the partnership); or have obtained a degree by one of the eligible institutions at the time you submit your application; OR Be registered/admitted in an institution (not included in the partnership) of an eligible country or have obtained a degree by an institution of an eligible country Have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses in the host countries

12 Specific programme criteria  Full Master  Must have completed a first good degree from an eligible Caribbean or Pacific country  Sandwich PhD/PhD Mobility  Be registered in a doctoral programme at one of the partner institutions Full PhD  Must have completed a Masters Programme at an eligible Caribbean or Pacific Institution

13 What is covered?  Tuition  Return airfares (home country to host institution/country)  Insurance  Monthly stipend  Masters = EUR 600 per month + a one time off settling-in allowance  PhD = EUR 900 per month + a one time off settling-in allowance  Staff = EUR 1000 per month Stipends are used for accommodation, meals, transportation expenses, etc.
