The Bergen Belsen concentration camp began as a prison camp for Prisoners of war. It was not like Auschwitz that had numerous gas chambers that killed thousands of people everyday but, Bergen Belsen caused just as much harm. Most people that died at Bergen Belsen were either shot, hung, starved to death, or died from diseases.

Anne frank was transferred from Auschwitz in October Anne Frank died from Tymhus (A bacterial disease caused by lice or fleas.) Anne Frank died in March 1945.

The Bergen Belsen camp was established by German authorities in In 1943 Bergen Belsen became an official camp that, held Jews, POWs, political prisoners, criminals, Jehovah witnesses, and homosexuals.

Around 50,000 people died in Bergen Belson all together. It was very dirty in Bergen belson, it only had few latrines and water faucets. Lack of water and food was a severe condition. No shelter cuased many diseases such as Thymus, tuberculosis, typhoid fever, and dysentery, causing an ever increasing number of deaths.

“The stench had become intolerable, I went out in search of air, to stretch out, to sleep in the open. The ground was muddy and cold, so I kept walking. In front of me, a pile of corpses balanced carefully on one another, rose geometrically like a haystack. There was no more room so they piled up the corpses out here.” Fania Fenelon weight 65lbs that day British arrived. Quote from Fania Fenelon a survivor from Bergen Belson

From the history of the Bergen Belson war we should learn to never discriminate people from there race or beliefs. That we should respect them because they live a human life just like all of us.
