sahel 1. What are the names of the two tribes that live in the Sahel? Describe some of the customs for each tribe. Fulani and Dagon are the two tribes in the Sahel. The customs for the Fulani are that true Fulani displays palaaku a mixture of these three values. Celebrated in oral literature, Palaaka is put into action in a male initiation ceremony in which young men beat each other with walking sticks. Also there is no pain allowed. Palaaku also comes into play when a brides father transfers one of his cattle to the groom. Only then is the marriage official. Dagon customs are that at age 12, male Dagons are circumcised and become eligible to dance in religious rituals. Fulani and Dagon are the two tribes in the Sahel.
