OUR MISSION The Association of Florida Colleges, Inc. is the professional association of Florida's 28 public member institutions of the Florida College System, their boards, employees, retirees and associates, and the employees of the Division of Florida Colleges. The mission of the Association is to actively promote, represent, and support members and institutions as they provide their students and the citizens of Florida with a world-class college system

AFC ADVOCACY PROCESS Who’s Involved? C ouncil of Presidents (COP) Sets annual “system” policy priorities Requests “system” funding Special appropriations – targeted programs or projects, e.g., Baccalaureate degrees

Who’s Involved? AFC Legislative Committee – Boots on the Ground 18 College Lobbyists What we do? Support COP by advocating to our legislative members Provide insight, information and strategic thinking to accomplish legislative goals annually Communicate to and engage AFC members in the process as needed. Move AFC bills as requested

GUNS ON CAMPUS AMD IN GENERAL Two bills – identical; would allow concealed weapon permitted persons age 21+ to carry on campus HB 4001 passed House Criminal Justice Subcommittee on Sept. 16 (8-5); SB 068 by passed Senate Criminal Justice Committee on Sept vote; HB 163 and SB 300 – open carry by concealed carry permit holders
