Antagonist  The character directly opposed to the protagonist.  A rival, opponent, or enemy of the protagonist.  Who are the antagonists of the following works?  Romeo and Juliet  The Lion King  The Matrix

Dynamic Characters  Someone who undergoes an important, internal change because of the action in the plot.  Usually, but not ALWAYS, the protagonist.  Examples: Scrooge from The Christmas Carol,

Static Character  Someone whose personality doesn't change throughout the events in the story's plot.  These are usually side characters.  Examples: The sisters in The Little Mermaid, Robin in Batman, Tibelt in Romeo and Juliet.

Characterization  the method used by a writer to develop a character so that they seem lifelike.  showing the character's appearance  displaying the character's actions  revealing the character's thoughts  letting the character speak  getting the reactions of others

Dialogue  Conversation of two or more people  It is consistent with the personality of the character  It advances the action of the work  Gives the impression of naturalness  Presents the interplay of ideas and personalities among the people conversing  Varies according to the various speakers  Gives relief from passages essentially descriptive or expository
