COMMITMENTS ARE NOW BINDING.

TEAM CATE Mission Statement: The CATE Department at SHHS will educate all student to meet the challenges of the 21 st Century by integrating academic, professional, and technical standards. Department Meeting Time: Tuesdays at 4:30 pm Bi-Weekly Norms: Be on time. Be prepared with completed tasks. Stay on the agenda. Be polite. Culinary provides snacks.

TEAM LOTE Vision Statement: We are committing to empowering our students to excel in higher education and careers by providing them with knowledge and confidence to target language. Department Meeting Time: Every Friday 4 th Period Norms: Binders are required. School policies will be enforced.

TEAM SCIENCE Vision Statement: 90% passing on STAAR with at least 10% commended. 85% of students passing with an 80% or higher on mid-term and final. We will do this through team intervention, frequent student feedback, and intense remediation. Department Meeting Time: Every Tuesday at 7:45 am Norms: On time Respectful of others’ ideas Don’t take it personal Be present Be focused Participate Care for each other.

TEAM ELA Vision Statement: The ELA Department will collaborate to increase rigor and raise expectations in order to increase student literacy and performance. Department Meeting Time: Every Tuesday Odd weeks, Morning at 8:00am Even weeks, Evening at 4:30pm Norms: Agendas and meeting minutes Focus on data Focus on consensus and implementation Practice professionalism.

TEAM ACE Vision Statement: Empower our students to excel both academically and behaviorally to become productive citizens. Department Meeting Time: Thursdays at 4:15 weekly Norms: No cell phones Timely Full participation

TEAM SOCIAL STUDIES Vision Statement: To create leaders who can be active citizens who can be active citizens who use Social Studies to inform their decision and understand the world they live in; that they embrace the idea that they are advocates for family, friends, and wider community. To guide leaders to change the world in big and small ways. Department Meeting Time: Wednesdays, 8:00 – 8:30 am weekly Norms: Be on time. Meeting will end at 8:30. Department Chair announcements Check in: LPs, Word Walls, Bulletin Boards Freedom to speak freely and express concerns. No cells / electronics Call Department and Mrs. Barrientes if you will miss We will include ALL subjects. Establish a parking lot to leave concerns.

TEAM FINE ARTS Vision Statement: We will enlighten our students about the discipline required to become active members of the Fine Arts community through performance and community involvement. Department Meeting Time: 2 ND Monday each month, 8:00 – 8:30 am Norms: Create an agenda Punctual Confidentiality Brevity Receptive to other’s ideas.

TEAM PE & HEALTH Vision Statement: The vision within our department is to foster healthy lifestyles through health education and physical activity. To create a culture that promotes students making healthy life decisions. Department Meeting Time: Norms: Discussion and evaluation of the following: Support core content Lesson plans, TEKS, common assessments and House Bill 5

TEAM AVID Vision Statement: Close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. Department Meeting Time: Every Monday, 3 rd Period Norms: Follow MyAVID to ensure correct TEKS are taught Review how previous week went

TEAM MATH Vision Statement: To ensure all students receive rigorous, student-centered instruction that will empower them to achieve and compete in college and career. Department Meeting Time: Every 3 rd Wednesday, 4:30 – 5:15 pm Norms: Stick to the agenda – start and end on time Respect others voice – everyone speaks Recap meeting / thoughts Student-centered / instruction Algebra 1 takes focus
