The Sun As A Renewable energy Source ?

OF COURSE !!! F Think about it, there’s more energy in the sun than we could ever use. F Near Perfect Power Source.

Two Types of Solar Heat Energy F Passive Solar F Active Solar

Passive Solar Heating F The use of the sun as a heating source without fans or pumps. F Like sun through your window.

Is It Hard To Do? F Passive solar can be easily designed into a buildings plans, and is very cost effective. F It is a great way to save money and Energy.

I Get It!! F Passive can be used by everyone without special equipment. F And it saves money.

What’s Active Solar?

Active Solar F Active Solar Heating uses Pumps, Fans, and other equipment to gather and distribute heat energy to where it is needed.

Active Collectors F This is an example of one of the simplest types of solar heat collectors. It is made-up of just these three simple components.

Glazing F The Glazing is a glass piece that covers the Collector Plate. F Glazing lets the suns rays in, then keeps them from escaping.

Collector Plate F The Collector Plate is the most important part of the collector. F It is the part that actually collects the energy. F It does this by running water through a series of small pipes, these pipes are heated by the sun and in turn heat the water.

Insulation F After the Absorber Plate collects the heat, the Insulation keeps that heat from escaping. F This makes the collector more efficient and less wasteful.  ‘Help !!’

So….. F Active Solar is a good way to use the sun for heating your water and your home. F It is very economical because it is efficient and reliable. F Besides, the sun’s rays are free.

So class, what did we learn? F These and other types of solar energy are an exceptional way to get energy. F All in all solar energy ROCKS!!!!! è THE END
