What is engineering?

Engineering is the use of mathematics, science, and technology to create products or systems to improve the world. Engineers are the highly trained professionals who use knowledge and skills to solve problems.

The engineering disciplines include: Material engineers Electrical engineers Civil engineers Mechanical engineers Bioengineer Computer engineer Aerospace engineer Manufacturing engineer Chemical engineer

What is knowledge?

Knowledge is the general awareness or possession of information, facts, ideas, truths, and principles. There are three kinds of knowledge used by engineers which include: Mathematical Scientific Technical

Engineers and their teams Engineers carry the role of lead designer or analyst in an engineering project. Engineering technicians are the people who carry out most of the technical work of an engineer. Tend to use more technology and less scientific and mathematical knowledge. Tradespeople are the individuals who follow the plans provided by engineers to build the design solutions.

Historical Facts about Engineering The field of engineering follows the development of human and societal needs. Examples of this include: Design and construction of irrigation systems by Egyptians for the purpose of moving water to agricultural areas. Tools evolved as different ways to process metals into a molten state were engineered. Bronze and Iron Age resulted.

The Industrial Revolution was another historical period of time that seen advancements made in the field of mechanical engineering and lead to development of steam engine. (James Watt)(1750 – 1900)

Engineering advancements in the 20 th Century resulted in such things as the construction of Panama Canal and aerospace endeavors such as spacecraft landings on the Moon and Mars.
