Terra Remote Sensing

Terra Remote Sensing Inc. is an internationally based Canadian remote sensing company with a background of 40 years of experience performing successful airborne LiDAR and marine survey projects on five continents, in over 20 countries. Terra operates a full range of integrated and cutting- edge remote sensing technologies, on land and in marine environments. Our operational capabilities include: airborne LiDAR, digital orthophotography, hyperspectral, multi-beam bathymetry, marine geophysics, thermal imaging, and GIS support services. In addition to the collection of geospatial data, Terra has developed unique software and internal processes to integrate and manage differing remote sensing datasets into synergetic products. These products have been relied on by industry leading companies for cost-effective solutions for a range of complex applications, including: Electrical Transmission, Energy, Environment, Mining, Pipeline, Transportation, and Marine.

Terra Remote Sensing

Remote Sensing of the Hydro- dynamics of Peace Athabasca Delta

Scope of Work –To develop and validate a strategy to collect and process multi-sensor data from an aircraft platform to collect baseline information regarding the hydro-dynamics of the Peace-Athabasca Delta Summary of major tasks –Airborne campaign planning –Data collection –Data pre-processing and spatial calibration –Data integration, analysis, and model building –Toolbox integration Terra Remote Sensing

Level of readiness –Three components to project Hardware integration and data collection are mature technologies Information extraction is a development and is the focus of the field trial Information Gap –The following knowledge gaps were identified : The requirement for a high resolution Digital Elevation Model of the Delta A better understanding of the surface connectivity of water bodies The baseline environmental condition of water body extents and some water quality indicators Suitability of Solution –Integrated data from the proposed suite of sensors will help describe hydro-dynamics that are otherwise too complex and large-scale for traditional ground based monitoring –While reasonable for the application described in the proposal, range, resolution and coverage is limited by the performance of the individual sensors –Because of inherent costs the proposed solution is appropriate for DEM and base-lining applications but may be prohibitively costly for routine, operational monitoring.

Terra Remote Sensing Business Case Summary Terra Remote Sensing is a mid-sized company (~100 employees) –Acquisition and analysis of spatial data (airborne digital mapping / hydrographic charting –Extensive track record for similar projects over 25+ years Project Impacts –For Terra Remote Sensing - Terra Remote Sensing will acquire an end-to-end monitoring toolkit which can be packaged and offered as a commercial service to industry as well as to government programs. –For sustainable resource development - the project will develop a data acquisition protocol for multiple high resolution data sources and the processing of these data into an integrated analysis product. The results will provide an environmental baseline for assessment of change and impact.
