Demonstrating Concrete Construction Safety

What is the importance of safety equipment when working with and handling and using masonry products? A.Safety glasses, safety shoes, and hard hats should be worn. B.Gloves should be worn to protect hands from being bruised or burned. C.Respirators should always be worn when working in masonry dust

Important safety precautions to observe when handling masonry products. A.Obtain the instructor=s permission before using any powered equipment. B.Check equipment before using. Be sure that hoists, scaffolds, and ladders are in good operating condition and safely positioned before using. C.Stack masonry materials carefully. Masonry materials such as concrete blocks are heavy and bagged cement is bulky, and when not properly stacked could fall and cause injury.

Important safety precautions to observe when handling masonry products. Continued D.Operate mechanical mixers carefully. Before operating mechanical mixers, inspect to see if all shields and guards are in place. Electric mixers should be checked to see if the electrical wires are properly connected and the machine is properly grounded to prevent the danger of electrical shock. E.Use chemicals carefully. Be sure extra care is used when handling chemicals such as muriatic acid and trisodium phosphate, because these chemicals are harmful to the skin, eyes and clothing. Also explain how to store these chemicals.

F.Check all concrete forms. Be sure that all forms are properly constructed. G.Place tools for convenience. Make sure all tools are placed for working conveniences and never where you or anyone else would be injured. H.Report all accidents, potential safety hazards, and safety violations to the instructor immediately.
