Tips for System Administrators

Tips for System Admins  Use Macros to automate repetitive tasks  Must use telnet or Presentation Manager  Press Control-R to start then choose option key to record macro (option, option, 7, 7 usually safe choice)  Enter keystrokes, press Control-R to stop  Press Option key to play back

Tips for System Admins  Recovering accidentally deleted records  You can use the ‘recover’ utility to try to recover deleted records, if you are quick enough  Syntax: recover  Syntax: recover  Watch out for Windows utility of same name!

Tips for System Admins  Can ignore newfile, since we aren’t recovering corrupted file  Design Xfer existing file to new file, remove keys, create file  Deleted records are now available!

Tips for System Admins  Login Problems:  Try stopping/starting the service with Windows Control panel (or kill in Linux/Unix)  Try scratching the USAGE* files in $APPXPATH/0SA/Data
