The advantages of working partnership are: For the patient Exactly as Arlene told us…. It’s about getting the best quality of care to meet the needs of the individual. Reassurance that the carer is competent in their role (using the specialist knowledge to meet objectives.) Trust, that the patient will find an atmosphere that they feel comfortable to be cared in. The patient will have a key carer (usually the consultant or GP) who will co-ordinate the care. This means they are responsible and can guarantee of treatment continuity.

The advantages of working partnership are: For the physician Efficient and considerate help from other specialists Thorough discussion of difficult cases Efficient fight against isolation, Efficient fight against ‘burn-out’ by sharing anxieties and difficulties, Possibility of transferring the responsibility of a patient to another team physician when it becomes too difficult for the referent physician.
