Presentation transcript:

 You will be assigned a region to research.  Start with the chart that was provided for basic information. It should also help you with search terms.  Use the internet and your textbook to find details about your topic.  Write your findings clearly on chart paper so that they can be displayed in the room.  Present your findings to the class. You may also show any images or web pages that were interesting. Save items in the class folder or on your account.  You will only have 20 minutes to research your topic, so use your time wisely!  Please take notes on the presentations; there is no teacher-made power point for this section.

 You will write a 2-5 page essay about your experience researching your tribe. This paper will be read and graded by your teacher.  You will create a power point about your tribe. You will present the power point to your classmates.  The power point should include pictures, short movies and websites. Any written information should be in bullets.

 Write a paragraph that introduces your topic.  Describe what you already know about the topic before starting research.  Brainstorm for a list of questions that you would like to answer with your research. Try to group the questions into main ideas that can be used as your main research question.  Identify the preliminary research question you want to explore. (HINT: This should have something to do with the history of your tribe.)  Write a preliminary hypothesis (THESIS) that answers the research question.

 Explain the steps taken in the course of your research. Write a few paragraphs telling the story of how you found your sources.  Make a list of all the sources you have, then tell the story of how you found them. Do not go in depth on the content of the sources in this part.  Where did you begin your research?  How did this lead you to other sources, such as books, periodicals, internet sites, interviews, etc.?  What resources and materials did you find? Don’t worry if it turns out to be a poor source; we are looking at the process!  How did your research strategy change form your original plan?  What difficulties did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?

 Describe the most significant information you learned about your topic and how this changed your thinking about the topic.  Include details, examples and quotes to support new thinking.  This should be the bulk of what is on your power point presentation.  Write several paragraphs discussing what you learned. The paragraphs should follow the same organization structure as your power point, so this should not seem like extra work.

 Write a paragraph concluding your research.  What skills did you develop or improve during this research? How might you conduct your research differently in the future?

 PRESENT your power point!
