Mamutes Voadores

 The Competition  The project  The team

Mamutes Voadores

The Aerodesign is a competition for students of engineering, physical sciences and aviation. And the goal is to design, document, build and fly a radio controlled airplane carrying the heaviest load possible.

 Apply the knowledge in theories;  Encourages teamwork, the ability to coordinate and manage the marketing ability ;  Stimulates the spirit of laeadership.

 Regular: the class is more traditional and well attended of the competition. Their planesare of medium size;  Open: it is also open to graduate students. Their planes are l arger;  Micro: is the simplest class of the competition. Their models are smaller and use electric motors. The planes are designed this class seeking high aerodynamic efficiency.

The SAE AeroDesign is divided into two parts:  Design Competition  Competition Flight

 It is divided into four parts:  Project Technical Report  Plans and Drawings  Prediction usefull load  Oral Presentation

The airplane has to make this trip:

Mamutes Voadores

Set the wing and tail

Mamutes Voadores

 Choose the propeller;  How much fuel is needed;  The size of the runway for takeoff;  Estimated time for the mission.

 Make the draw for the flight;  Diameter  Step: represents how the plane will move forward when the propeller comes around.

Mamutes Voadores

 It’s the tendency of anything to return to equilibrium. So stability analysis anything interfering on the flight.

Why make a good analysis of stability?

Mamutes Voadores

 Calculation how much cargo the plane will take;  The size of the plane;  Choose the materials we use.

 The structural design is performed by software Finite Element Method

Mamutes Voadores

 Model the entire three- tridimensional plane;  Make the project plans;  Siulate some behavior of the plane.

 Reduce the calculations;  Reduction the time to do the project;  Flexibility to change;  Can simulate several things that make.

Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora

 It was created at the beginning of the last year(2010) ;  Currently consists of 19 students, 12 members are full and 7 are trainees;  It is composed of members of the engineering electrical, mechanical, civil and production.
