SAS Group Presentation September, 2012 Eivind Roald Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Today’s topic…  Times of Economic Crisis in Aviation: Can the Airline companies afford environmental related investments?  The short answer from SAS is: Yes.  SAS have set ambitious environmental goals. They are all set to reduce emissions, costs and mitigate future risks.

SAS´environmental goals The environmental goal up to 2015 will lay the basis for ensuring that SAS operations will be sustainable in the long-term. SAS will:  reduce total flight emissions by 20% in 2015 compared with  reduce total ground-related energy consumption by 15% in 2015 compared with  reduce ground-vehicle consumption of fossil fuels by 10% at SAS’s major airports in Scandinavia 2015 compared with  improve one index point annually for the Customer Satisfaction Index question involving being an environmental-aware company (2011: Index 64).  secure a regular, large-scale supply of a commercially available and sustainable jet fuel by

We continuously renew our fleet As of Q Scandinavian Airlines plan to operate 79 % current generation short haul aircraft. By Q Scandinavian Airlines plan to operate 100% current generation short haul aircraft. And will be among the first airlines to introduce Airbus 320neo in 2016.

First delivery from fall 2016 and final delivery during 2019 An important step in the renewal and harmonization of SAS aircraft fleet SAS will from 2016 have the markets most efficient and environmental friendly short & medium distance aircrafts A320neo reduces fuel consumption and Co 2 by additional 15% and noise by 50% compared to the A320 model today SAS orders 30 Airbus A320neo

We continuously adapt our fleet to meet the demand CO ₂ emissions per passenger in kilo and type of B737NG for all flights from OSL to SVG between 01Aug2011 and 31Jul2012.

We continuously modify our aircraft  We mount winglets when financial and environmental effects are beneficial.  Approx. 1-5 percent improved fuel efficiency depending on stage length.  We exchange to lighter seats.  Approx. 250 kilo weight reduction compared to same number of older seats in an B  We replace older versions of our B737NG engines (CFM56) with the latest version.

We continuously work with our own processes

We continuously work with our suppliers processes

We continuously reduce our emissions So, yes. Even in a challenging market you need to work with environmental investments in order to reduce your costs AND take responsibility and contribute to lower total emissions in the society.
