When Opal goes to the library, Winn Dixie couldn’t go inside with her, so Opal told him that he can stand on his hind legs and look at her from the window. One day when she was sitting in her library reading a book, something with a peculiar smell passed by her. She raised her head to talk to him, but she found out that it was a big bear. She said to herself “if the bear intends to eat me, I have to fight with it.” 5 She threw the book she was reading at the bear. It was a surprise,when the bear took the book and ran away. Then, Miss Franny said that all her friends who were living at that time are now dead. She doesn’t have any friends now. 6
