What powers did Garuda have? Immortality Ability to heal snake bites Carrier for Lord Vishnu (Windows)

Garuda’s Story When Garuda had just been born from an egg, already fully grown, his mother was imprisoned by her rival, Kadru and was guarded by two serpents. The only way Garuda was able to free his mother was for him to steal the amrita or water of immortality from the gods, and give it to his mother’s captor as ransom. Garuda succeeded in capturing the amrita and rescuing his mother from the serpents, although he made the gods very angry for taking their water of immortality. (Garuda bottom, Vishnu top) (Heyliger)

How Garuda Became the Carrier… One day, Garuda took the moon from the sky and carried it away with him. The gods found out about this robbery and attacked Garuda in an attempt to rescue the moon. Because Garuda was so powerful, none of the gods could beat him except for Vishnu. Garuda surrendered to him and Vishnu made him immortal and employed him as his carrier. (Levels)

How Garuda Is Worshipped Garuda is not worshipped individually but instead is worshipped by the Hindu believers along with Vishnu. In today’s paintings and statues, Garuda is usually depicted alongside or carrying Vishnu. (Windows)

Garuda’s Relation to Other Myths -According to Greek myths, ambrosia and nectar were two of the drinks of immortality kept on Mount Olympus. The Greek Gods drank this mixture in order to maintain their immortality. -Greek ambrosia probably came from the idea of the Hindu amrita (which was stolen by Garuda). (Clipart)

Garuda Today Garuda Indonesia is a major airline of Indonesia. The name of this airline is very significant because Garuda was the carrier of Vishnu and airplanes are major carriers of people today. (Bluesky)
