Case Study Area: Emscher Landschaftspark

Case study region: Emscher Landschaftspark area: 460km² (70km W-E,15km N-S) 20 cities at/in the Emscher Landschaftspark Inhabitants ca. 3,6 Mio population density 1.200 E/km² design in the framework of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park 1989-99 Industrial characterised landscape planning concept in reality Mosaic of green areas regional park in Germany

Conclusion for EU COST WG2 Results for the case study: No policies and legal strategies exists nor for UA (i.e.food supply) Urban agriculture has to play an important role in park mangement A lot of stakeholders, but little networking and cooperation between them Top-down models, but few bottom-up processesand Related topics- agriculture, city planning, social and education… Further steps needed: Further developement of models for sustainable land management Further development of regional park management In cooperation with partners design and realisation of projects Stronger networking is needed i.e. between farmers and planners
