Annual Meeting, June , Istanbul, Turkey General overview of the HMCR’s contribution: Current status (April 2015) SeawaterSedimentBiota Number of CDIs at beginning: Number of CDIs at year 1: Number of CDIs at year 2: Total number of CDIs (Mediter. & Black Sea) Note 1: For Seawater the number of CDIs is for bottles not CTDs or Buoys (oxygen)

Annual Meeting, June , Istanbul, Turkey Data quality control performed by the data center: Type of QC: SeawaterSedimentBiotaNotes: Position checkYYY Date/time checkYYY Missing valueYYY Range checkYY SpikeY Pre-existing statistics Y*YY *for NTRA, PHOS,SLCA,DOXY Visualization and manual checks YYY Negative Values Check: YYY Manual checks of zeros (but not part of the local software)

Annual Meeting, June , Istanbul, Turkey Difficulties encountered: Some datasets cannot be processed because the corresponding metadata are missing Missing P01 and P09 labels from the elements/compounds result in delay of data processing. Different methods of analysis along the decades demand different P01 and P09 labels increasing the time for processing Not uniform units among datasets for the same chemical elements/compounds increase the time of processing In some cases, there is a mismatch between the reported datasets and the actual scientist holdings (a time-consuming procedure to find these data)

Annual Meeting, June , Istanbul, Turkey Spatial distribution of HNODC’s CDIs uploaded during the 2nd year 2 nd Year Metals in Seawater 15 stations 783 CDIs from 1985 to 2009 Fertilizers, Silicates, Organic matter and Chlorophyll in Seawater
