Using Cognitive learning strategist to Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language Presenting the Spanish Speaking world to students Introduce the lesson with an open ending question: Why Learn Spanish?

Warm-up As you read in Spanish you will come across some words that look like English. try to identify the meaning of the following Spanish words: Cómico popularsecundaria matemática videotelevisión

Deploy Attention The strategy is very simple: Identify new words and find similarities between English and Spanish. Read aloud the words: hearing the words make it easier the identification of its meaning.

During Reading Strategy Today students will identify Cognate Vocabulary words in a reading selection. Students will work in team to make a list of new vocabulary they identify and highlight cognate words. Students will analyze the parts of the words that are used in both languages. Students make prediction-Motivating activity-and making connection to personal experience. Students will discuss and write a rule or rules that can be use to understand Spanish language.

After Reading Activity Work in Team Form group of 3 people. Create a Glogter with the list of cognate words you identify in the reading selection. Compare Glogster and Share in large group.
