Motion: hold out right hand, palm up as if showing 1 object. Language: “a. I have a doll, but she has four.”

Motion: hold out left hand, palm up. Language: “an. There is an octopus on an island in an ocean.”

Motion: hold up hands, then move them together, interlocking fingers. Language: “and. It is blue and green.”

Motion: spread arms wide. Language: “big. He is big!”

Motion: flex biceps. Language: “can. Can I lift this?”

Motionsignal a person to come with palm facing up. Language: “come. Come here.”

Motion: swoop hand and arm in a downward motion. Language: “Down. It’s going DOWN!”

Motion: hold out both palms facing up and move towards child. Language: “for. This is for you.”

Motion: lean forward while pointing. Language: “Go. I said GO.”

Motion: raise both arms up together, reaching.. Language: “Help. Help!”

Motion: point emphatically towards the floor in front of you. Language: “Here. Come right HERE!”

Motion: move your hand from head to your toes as you say the language. Language: “I. I am a think man with a flat hat (move hand across top of head) and long skinny shoes (move hand across shoes).”

Motion: hold thumb and index finger about ½ inch apart. Language: “Little. It’s so LITTLE!”

Motion: crane neck, open eyes wide and look at something. Language: “LOOK! Look at that!”

Motion: mimic stirring motions as though making a cake. Language: “make. I can MAKE a cake.”

Motion: point thumb to own chest Language: “ME. It is ME!”

Motion open palm on chest. Language: “MY! This is MY book.”

Motion: shake head from side to side emphatically. Language: “NOT. I will NOT do that!”

Motion: move body back and forth as though playing. Language: “PLAY. I like to PLAY!”

Motion: point to own speaking mouth. Language: “SAID. I said something!”

Motion: open eyes wide, point under both eyes with index fingers. Language: “SEE. I can see you!”

Motion: point to eaach THE one at a time. Language: “THE. The cow, THE cat, THE boy, THE star ….!”

Motion: pretend to read a tag on a gift. Language: “To. Who is this to?”

Motion: float your hands up slowly as though a rising balloon. Language: “UP. It is going UP!”

Motion: point rapidly from child to self. Language: “WE. We are together!”

Motion: point with index finger to child. Language: “YOU. You are so sweet!”

Motion: arm out to side, hand hanging down, motion away from yourself. Language: “AWAY! Go away!”

Motion: hold tummy and laugh uproariously. Language: “FUNNY. That was sooo FUNNY!”

Motion: make running motions. Language: “RUN. Let’s RUN now!”

Motion: pretend to look through a magnifying glass. Language: “FIND. I have to FIND it!”

Motion: shade your eyes with one hand. Language: “Where. Where is it?”

Motion: hold up 3 fingers. Language: “THREE. There were THREE sisters!”

Motion: hold up two index fingers. Language: “TWO. There are Two candles!”

Motion: hold up one finger as though a candle. Language: “ONE. I have one candle on my cake!”

Motion: using two arms, imitate a swimming motion. Language: “BLUE. I swim in blue water!”

Motion: act out placing hand on object and jerking hand back rapidly. Language: “RED. Red hot!”

Motion: make a button-sized circle with thumb and finger. Language: “YELLOW. I have a yellow button!”

Motion: cup one palm and point inside it with other index finger. Language: “IN. It is in there!”
