PART 1

3 R’s+ 1 Reduce Reuse Recycle + Respect

Reduce Reducing is very easing to do. It means using less materials I.E. shorter shower use silverware instead of plastic forks/spoons, etc.

Reuse Reusing means to use items again instead of disposing them For Example Turn a bottle into a bird seeder Turn a bottle into a planter

Recycle Recycling is throwing away items that can be made into another object There are many recyclable items, here are a few common ones: Plastic Paper Glass

PART 2

PART 3 2 liter Project

Project My project for a 2 liter bottle is a hummingbird feeder

Resources 2-liter plastic bottle Utility knife Plastic cup cut in half or large plastic bottle cap Napkin Hot glue gun Fake flowers with open holes in the center Drill and small drill bit Wire for hanging Hummingbird nectar

Instructions – 1Cut a large hole in the top of the 2-liter bottle cap using the utility knife. – 2Place the napkin in the bottom of the plastic cup or large plastic lid--- whichever you are using. The napkin will act as a spacer in the next step. – 3Glue the lid from the 2-liter bottle cap inside the larger plastic cup or lid about midway up the cup's side so that the bottle cap does not touch the bottom. Do this by gradually building up "bridges" of glue on the sides to secure the cap. – 4Remove the napkin from the bottom of the cup when finished. – 5Glue fake flowers, which should each have a hole in the center, inside the cup so that the open flower bottoms will be sticking into the nectar, which will eventually fill half of the cup. The idea is that the birds will feed as they normally do, sticking their beak into the flower to get the nectar inside. – 6Drill a hole in the bottom of the 2-liter bottle and stick the wire through the hole. Secure the wire by sealing around it with hot glue. You need to seal the bottom of the bottle water-tight so it will hold the nectar without leaking. – 7Fill the bottle with nectar when the glue is dry. Screw on the glued bottle cap and cup apparatus to it and flip over quickly. Hang it up outside with the wire.
