TALENT 21 PROJECT STEVEN KINGKINER TEACHER MR. ALESZCZYK

MY ENVIRONMENTAL RATING I am a average earth friend. I am good at taking quick showers, turning off lights, keeping windows, turning off water, picking up litter, encouraging family to carpool, and not using car whenever possible. I am not good at recycling whenever possible, bringing my own bags two stores, reusing items.

COKE BOTTLE EASTER BASKET. Cut the top off of a soda bottle keeping the lower 3 1/2" of the bottle to make the basket. This should be done by an adult and is easiest cut with a craft knife. Discard the top portion of the bottle or cover the rough edge with masking tape and use it as a funnel. Use the masking tape or painters tape to cover the cut edge of the soda bottle folding the tape to the inside and the outside of the bottle. This makes a nice smooth edge and is decorative at the same time. Glue rickrack around the bottle on top of or just below the tape. Cut egg shapes from craft foam and if using self stick craft foam stick them to the inside of the coke bottle. If you aren't using self stick craft foam, then use white glue to attach them to the inside of the bottle. Using a hole punch, punch two holes across from each other near the top edge of the bottle (punching through the masking tape). Then, thread one end of the pipe cleaner through each hole and twist to keep in place. This forms your basket handle. Put Easter grass into your basket and you are done. If you used glue to attach the craft foam eggs, be sure the glue is dry before putting the grass inside.

The three R’s of recycling are reduce, reuse, recycle. Reduce is to make smaller or less in amount, degree, or size. Reuse is the action of using something again. Recycle is to put or pass through a cycle again If there was a fourth R in recycling it would be restore. Restore is to bring back into existence or use. THE THREE R’S OF RECYCLING

HOW CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT HOME? You can make a difference at home by trying to recycle when ever possible.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT SCHOOL? TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE I COULD PUT RECYCLING CANS ALL OVER THE SCHOOL. MAKE SHORE NOBODY PUT RECYCLABLE MATERIALS IN THE TRASH CAN.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY. In your community you can help it by picking up all the litter on the ground. Also put can you can put your recycling in instead of putting everything in the trash can.

Recycling 1 ton of paper saves seven-teen trees. RECYCLING 1-TON OF PAPER SAVES HOW MANY TREES?

It would save 20 million acres of trees. RECYCLING ½ OF THE WORLD’S PAPER, HOW MANY ACRES OF FOREST COULD BE SAVED?

20 billion pounds of plastic are thrown out yearly by Americans. HOW MANY POUNDS OF PLASTIC ARE THROWN OUT YEARLY BY AMERICANS?
