THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling GASCOIGNE WOOD COLLIERY RECLAMATION & DEMOLITION Demolition of 30m high rapid loading bunker over live railway lines

THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling View of the 30m High Rapid Loading Bunker at Gascoigne Wood Colliery. The control tower located in the centre of the structure was required to remain undisturbed.

THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling View of the conveyers which required removal and some of the railway lines which would remain in use during the demolition of the structure

THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling View from the top of the structure, showing the extent of the railway infrastructure. All lines except those running under the main structure remained live during demolition.

THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling Following isolation of the working area, the cladding sheets were removed utilising a all-terrain crane and cherry picker. Note the temporary works erected to protect the control tower from damage

THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling Upper sections of the structure were removed 1 st, following removal of the cladding sheets This was completed systematically by our specialist demolition plant

THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling Following removal of the upper steel structure, the concrete and brick elements were removed and processed on site to produce secondary aggregates Once the remaining steelwork structure was clean, it was dismantled using our long reach excavator fitted with a shear attachment

THORNE GROUP Earthworks : Recycling : Reclamation : Demolition : Dismantling Here is a ‘before and after’ view of the control tower The works were completed without complication and the control tower and live railway lines continued to operate throughout the demolition
