Model’s Photoshop Transformation

Learning Targets 1.I can define the parts of plot. 2.I can identify the parts of plot in a Dove “Evolution” commercial. 3.I can define the author’s purpose. 4.I can analyze how each part of plot develops the author’s purpose.

Defining Parts of Plot: See Parts of Plot PPT

Construction in Print Media After viewing this site, you will be asked to answer the following questions: –What was “wrong” with this man to begin with? –Name three things the photographer alters in these images. –Why would it be bad for the buying public to see this man with his natural attributes?

Gender Construction in Print Media After watching the clip, you will be asked to answer the following questions: –What was “wrong” with this woman to begin with? –Name three things the makeup artist does to her. –Name three things the photographer/editor does to her. –Why?

Is there a plot line in a media message? What is the “author’s purpose” in composing a film such as “Evolution”? View the Dove: Campaign for Real Beauty film entitled “Evolution” again and prepare a row of analysis for each part of plot. Decide which segment of film corresponds to each part of plot. Then analyze the significance of each segment of film. Address each number in the analysis column.
