What can you do to get ready? Read at least two books this summer. One has been picked for you. The other book will be one of your choosing.

Projects You will need to choose two activities for the Summer Reading Project Page. one for The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan one from the additional book section

Research – Greek Gods & Goddesses Create one bubble map for each god or goddess answering the following questions. What do they control? What animal represents them? What symbol is used to represent them?

Dear . . . . . . . As a character, write a friendly letter to another character in the book and explain an event in the story. For example, Percy may want to write a letter to his step-dad, Gabe, telling him how the Camaro got totaled.

Movie Poster Since the movie for this book is in production, create a movie poster with the following criteria: Title Full Color Illustration Quote or phrase that intrigues an audience. Producer/Director Actors/Actresses Rating See assignment sheet for specific requirements.                                                                                                                                                 

Greek Mythology Cartoon                                                                                                                                                                                    Create a cartoon strip describing events that happened in the beginning, middle, and end of the story. The cartoon strip must have at least six slides.

Olympian Crib Choose one of the Greek god’s cabins and decorate it based on the god’s characteristics. You can make a drawing, diorama, or any other three-dimensional type of cabin.

Additional Book Write a journal entry as one of your characters. As the character in your book, write a friendly letter to a friend.

Additional Book Create a timeline of the events in the book. Draw pictures next to each event. Create a cartoon strip describing events that happened in the beginning, middle, and end of the story. The cartoon strip must have at least six slides. Create a diorama of a scene in the story and write a summary describing what is happening on the back.
