WARNING ORDER “SPOTOCA”: SHOULD INCLUDE:- Sit; incl comd intent 2up, gd & en. Probable msn & probable msns for subordinates. Own ME. Timings. Earliest move times/NMB NTM RV and time of O Gp. CSS: Essential matters only. Acknowledge.

WARNING ORDER MAY INCLUDE:- Os for prelim ops, recce regping or mov. Assy area details. RVs, Mov of Adv and Hbr parties. Limitations on recce, mov and use of Tpt incl hels. Essential Svc Sp, or Comd and Sigs, instrs e.g. replen, rest, repair and rec, mov of Ech or HQs.

WARNING ORDER Can be issued immediately after Stage 1 of MA: “Wng O: B Coy to mount attack o/n 27/28 Sep as part of BG op. 4 & 5 tps in asslt; 6 tp res. Cfm; Wng O to fol.”

OPERATION ORDERS Formal, Detailed, Comprehensive written orders. May be supplemented by overlay Operation Orders down to BG level. May be supplemented by Oral Orders down to Fire Team level.

FRAGMENTARY ORDERS Used in fast moving situations. Operation Orders issued in part only and with limited distribution.
