Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Fast-Start Meeting Debrief What appeals to you about Action Workout to this point? What concerns, if any, do you have about leading Action Workout teams? 12

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Fast-Start Meeting “Traps and Tips” 13 TrapTip Get it “right” beforehand. Enforce the 1-Minute Debate Rule. Just do it! Just pick one! Test harder for differences in gain and speed. Team assignment discussion Over debating the “Confirm Act-Now Ideas” exercise Skipping the Progress Calendar “Burning” time on the Team Name exercise Making every idea a foothill

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Fast-Start Meeting Practice Exercise Objective Do a trial run of your Fast-Start Meeting Instructions 1. Pair up – one sponsor manager and one team leader. (Play your role in the Fast-Start Meeting.) 2. Read the notes as they are written to practice your role! 3. Stop at each exercise, review the instructions, but then move on. 4. Call “timeout” if you get confused and discuss how to get back on track. 5. Go as far as you can in the time available. 14

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Team Leader & Sponsor Manager Responsibilities After the Fast-Start Meeting Action Meetings 2. Midpoint Check-In with Sponsor Manager 3. Wrap-Up Meeting 4. Report & Recognition Meeting Prep Session with Sponsor Manager 5. Report & Recognition Meeting

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Action Meetings Walkthrough Agenda To push as many good ideas into action through a series of 5-6 weekly meetings. Objective 1.Review Actions In-Process using the 3Ws posters. 2.Prioritize more ideas for action from the Pull-In, Push-Up and Push-Up/Pull- In action areas. 3.Assign champions and complete the Idea-To-Action Checklist discussion. 4.Confirm 3Ws Action Assignments. 5.Document results as ideas are implemented. 16

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Action Meeting “Traps and Tips” 17 TrapTip Stick to the weekly schedule! Check-in with champions between meetings. Distribute 3Ws Action Assignments list after each meeting. Limit discussion on each idea to 20 minutes. Have all team members champion an idea by Action Meeting #4. Complete the Sponsor Manager Update after each Action Meeting! Slipping the Action Meeting Schedule 3Ws Action Assignments not completed between meetings Getting bogged down with one or two actions Getting out of touch with the sponsor manager

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Midpoint Check-In Meeting Walkthrough Objective To formally review progress of the Action Workout team and to secure sponsor manager support for any immediate “push-up” requests. Agenda 1.Team leader gives an overall assessment of team progress. 2.Team leader and sponsor manager review each action-in-progress. 3.Sponsor manager responds to any “Push-Up” requests. 4.Team leader and sponsor manager problem-solve any morale, motivation or general team problems. 5.Confirm dates for the Report & Recognition Prep Session and Team Meeting. 18

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Wrap-Up Meeting Walkthrough Objective Finalize all actions implemented and recommended and document projected and actual results achieved. Agenda 1.Review the status of each action. 2.Discuss the results achieved and projected using the Balanced Scorecard and Dollar Gain Calculator. 3.Identify final 3Ws Action Assignments needed to complete the Champion’s Final Action Report. 4.Plan the agenda for Report & Recognition Meeting. 19

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Wrap-Up Meeting “Traps and Tips” 20 TrapTip Remind team members that substance counts, not style. Begin documenting results in Action Meetings. Bank the best – toss the rest! Team members panicking about the prospect of reporting to the sponsor manager Little or no results documentation completed by team members Team hasn’t processed all of the ideas in the “Pull-In, Push-Up or Push-Up/Pull-In” action areas 1 2 3

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Report & Recognition Meeting Prep Session Walkthrough Objective For sponsor managers and team leaders to plan and prepare for a successful Report & Recognition Meeting. Agenda 1.Sponsor manager and team leader preview the Report & Recognition Meeting using the leader notes in their guides. 2.Team leader reviews actions completed and results achieved. 3.Team leader previews the “Push-Up” action requests. 4.Sponsor manager confirms plans for team recognition. 5.Confirm meeting logistics and any additional “guests” who will attend. 21

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Report & Recognition Meeting Walkthrough Objective To present the actions taken and results achieved and to build enthusiasm for future “Workouts” through effective recognition. Agenda 1.Sponsor manager welcomes team and offers congratulations on completing their assignment. 2.Team leader reviews team assignment and previews the actions taken. 3.Individual champions present Final Action Reports. 4.Sponsor manager responds to requests for support with clear decisions and commitments. 5.Sponsor presents the planned team recognition. 22

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Report & Recognition Meeting “Traps and Tips” 23 TrapTip Do a short dress- rehearsal. Reschedule – don’t proceed without a prep session! Prevention! Keep the sponsor informed and involved from the start. Individual champions unprepared for the meeting Sponsor manager not available for the Report & Recognition Meeting Prep Session Sponsor manager not satisfied with the results achieved by the team Sponsor manager has no concrete plan for recognition The recognition overshadows the team’s work Just do it! Keep it simple, sincere and fun. Keep the “report” separate from the “recognition.”

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Final Fast-Start Meeting Preparations  Resolve any concerns about your team’s Action Workout assignment.  Confirm team member participation.  Distribute team invitation memo.  Discuss team recognition options with your sponsor manager and set a target completion date.  Confirm time, location, and team member and sponsor manager participation at the Fast-Start Meeting. 24

Workshop 1999 Leap Technologies, Inc Keys to Success for Action Workout Leaders Follow the notes! Lock in the weekly meeting schedule! Be a about time and 3Ws Assignments! Communicate with each other! Keep it fun! 25
