Marlene Mader, MSc. RCE Graz-Styria, University of Graz 2012 TEACHING METHOD S.E.E. THE LINKS

S.E.E. the links 2 Aim of the method: To better understand the relations between the three sustainability dimensions society, environment and economy (S.E.E. stands for society, environment and economy)

S.E.E. the links 3 Procedure 1. The students are allocated into groups of three. Each group gets a set of three dice. 2. Each die stands for either society, environment or economy. Prior to the game you need to define different terms for the sustainability dimensions (see next slide). 3. The students throw the dice – e.g. for environment number two (= renewable energy), for society number four (= democracy), and for economy number three (= local economy). 4. The students have about minutes to use the three terms to tell a story and so relate the sustainability dimensions to each other. 5. If there is enough time, the students might throw the dice more than once and form short stories. 6. The student groups shortly present their results/stories.
