Tips for Taking Your Science OAA Never Settle for Less Than Your BEST!

Multiple Choice Questions Read carefully & Read question more than once if necessary Understand what is being asked Read all the choices before choosing your answer Eliminate incorrect choices first if you have having difficulty There is only one correct answer choice

Constructed Response Questions Read questions carefully If a question asks you to do more than one thing – for example: “identify and provide support”...Be sure you do BOTH THINGS! Read over your written answer to be sure that it makes sense and that you didn’t leave out any information

Constructed Response Questions These are usually 2 or 4 point questions Put a lot of effort into these answers Answer all of the questions to the best of your ability Try your best DO NOT LEAVE ANY QUESTIONS BLANK!

Content of Test – Physical Science Forces have magnitude & direction Some forces are invisible (electricity, gravity, & magnetism) Net forces change the motion of objects Different forms of Kinetic & Potential Energy

Content of Test – Physical Science Reference points, changes in position and time are used to describe motion Transformation of Energy Waves are produced by vibrations and transfer energy

Content of Test – Physical Science Conservation of Energy & Matter Density (equal volumes of different substances often have different masses) Energy sources can be classified as either renewable or nonrenewable Chemical & Physical Changes

General Test Taking Advise Get a good night sleep before a test Relax & know that you are well prepared Try your best Answer all questions Check over your test carefully before turning it in Use good handwriting

General Test Taking Advise Keep a positive attitude throughout the whole test and try to stay relaxed. If you start to feel nervous take a few deep breaths to relax. Do the easiest problems first. Don't stay on a problem that you are stuck on. Do the problems that have the greatest point values first.

General Test Taking Advise If you don't know an answer, skip it. Go on with the rest of the test and come back to it later. Other parts of the test may have some information that will help you out with that question. Stand up and stretch during breaks.

General Test Taking Advise Pace yourself, don't rush Read the entire question and pay attention to the details Don't worry if others finish before you Focus on the test in front of you Don’t turn in your test until you are sure it is your best effort

Good Luck! Never Settle for Less Than Your BEST!
