Net ODA in 2003 as a Percentage of GNI

Post Monterrey Commitments…. EU members to reach 0.33% ODA/GNI by 2006 US to increase aid by 50% (US$5 billion) by 2006 Canada to increase ODA budget by 8% annually to double aid by 2010 Japan to reduce its ODA budget for fiscal consolidation 2002/3 Norway to increase aid to 1% of GNI by 2005 Switzerland to increase aid to 0.4% of GNI by 2010 Australia to increase its ODA by 3% in real terms in 2002/3

The Bottom Line Net ODA declined from $59 billion in 1995 to $52 billion in 2001 and rose again in 2002 to $58 billion ODA/GNI increased from 0.22 in 2001 to 0.25 in 2003 Total population assistance increased from nearly $2.5 billion in 2001 to $3.2 billion in 2002 Developed countries and Foundations contributions increased while funding from the UN and development banks declined Funding for STI/HIV/AIDS increased from 9% in 1995 to 43% in FP declined from 55% to 23% in the same period.
